Befriending & Supporting International Students in Hattiesburg, Mississippi
Welcome Party
Every Fall, our volunteers organize a city-wide “Welcome to Hattiesburg Party” for the International Students in our area.
This year we will have an “iFriends Explore Downtown” party on Sept. 20. We will meet at 4Points Church then go on a Photo Scavenger Hunt around Hattiesburg’s Downtown area and conclude with lunch and sharing of our photos.
Help Getting Settled
Settling into a totally empty apartment can be overwhelming, so AIM solicits donations from the Hattiesburg community and gives mattresses to each new student and holds a Kitchen Giveaway for all those getting their first apartments. During the year we accept donations of furnishings to help students make their new apartment a home.
Friendship & Support
“iFriends-Hattiesburg” and “iFriends-MS Gulf Coast” Facebook groups provide a platform for International Students studying in our City and on the Coast to connect with each other and with local people, make friends, and find support for making life work. We offer seasonal social events, a Ride Board, a Roommate Finder Form, Moving help, and lots of helpful information about living in our community.
